Monuments and Memorials of America
Included in this portfolio are national monuments and memorials as well as iconic regional structures from major cities that are monumental. Information listed includes architects and further facts about the construction and purpose of the structures. There are 152 designated national monuments, and many are natural preserves or buildings. Those listed here are the most popular according to how many visits occur in year. There are over 50 national memorials, many of which are war-related or remembering tragedies from acts of terrorism . Those monuments and memorials included here are just a few of those existing in the United States, and students will be able to find a great deal more examples on websites provided by the National Park Service.
