Oil Painting or Acrylic: Painting Vibrant Floral and Landscapes
Mondays, Jan 8 - Feb 26. (8 WEEKS), 2 - 4:30PM [Ashlynn Frey] During this course, students will learn and create landscape and floral paintings. Students will learn and understand the basic techniques and concepts of painting such as composition, perspective, color mixing, and how to put all those elements together in order to create a dimensional work of art. Each student will work to develop 2-3 art pieces. Supply List: (2-3) Canvases, Liquin, Gamsol Odorless, Silicoil brush cleaner tank, Palette Knife, Cotton Rags, Glass Palette: At least a quarter inch deep* (Cutting Board, Window, etc.). Oil Paint: Suggested Brands: Gamblin, Rembrandt, Old Holland, (Winsor & Newton or Ultrech – Less expensive) Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Lemon Yellow Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber. Paint Brushes: #1 Round, #2 Flat and Round, #4 Flat and Round, #6 Flat, # 8 Flat, and #10 Flat. SAA has some oil and acrylic paints available if you would like to try oil painting without committing to buying your own oil paints. Acrylic paint is provided by SAA. Ages16+

Acrylic Painting: One Point Perspective
Tuesdays, Jan 9 - Feb 27 (8 WEEKS), 6 - 8:30PM [Ashlynn Frey]
In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of one point perspective: rural landscape and/or cityscape. The course will cover the concepts of perspective drawing/painting and explain all the terms related to it such as vanishing point, horizon lines, and etc. In this class, students will also learn the fundamentals of acrylic painting by exploring techniques and concepts of painting such as composition, color theory, color mixing, brushwork, and blending. Supply List: Please bring (2-3) 8x10 or bigger canvases. Acrylic paint is provided by SAA. Watercolor Open Studio
Wednesdays, Jan 10 - Feb 28 (8 WEEKS),9AM - NOON [No Instruction]
Open Studio will be for students working with drawing materials or any water-based, painting media. Students will be responsible for their own projects and materials.
