During this course students will learn how to paint landscapes during under weather phenomena such as blizzards, rainstorms, and etc. This will allow students to learn and understand composition, perspective, shading, and color theory. If students are painting with oil paint, they must have previous experience painting in that medium. SUPPLIES: Please bring (2) 8x10 or bigger canvases. Color TheoryTuesdays, March 25 - May 13 (8 Weeks), 1 - 3:30 PM [Ashlynn Frey]
This class is a great introduction to basic principles and theories of color. During this course students will learn and examine the color wheel and study the various color properties. Students will study artists and create several small studies of still life’s and landscapes. SUPPLIES: Please bring Strathmore Canvas Paper (found at Michael's) and (2) 8x10 or bigger canvases. Be Inspired!Tuesdays, April 22 - May 13 (4 Weeks), 9 AM - 12 PM [Marianne Stremsterfer]
Japanese woodblock prints were a major influence on the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters. This class will look at samples of this influence ( known as “ukiyo-e”) and how the compositions, flat colors, and lighting were inspirational to Monet, Degas, Cassatt, and Van Gogh. Each student will take a look at the Japanisme' prints and be inspired to create their own paintings! SUPPLIES: Please bring (1) 8x10 or bigger canvas. During this course students will learn about Georgia O’Keeffe and her art style as an American modernist painter. She was internationally recognized for her paintings of natural forms, flowers and desert-inspired landscapes. Students will create at least one Georgia O’Keeffe inspired painting. Watercolor Open Studio
Wednesdays, March 26 - May 14 (8 Weeks), 9 AM - 12 PM [No Instruction]
Open Studio will be for students working with drawing materials or any water-based, painting media. Students will be responsible for their own projects and materials.
