Finding Your Style in Landscape: Acrylic & Oil

Mondays, January 5 - March 2 [8 Weeks]: 2 - 4:30 PM [Ashlynn Frey] (No class January 19)
During this course, students will learn about well known landscape artists and experiment with several drawing exercises in order to discover their own style and further develop technique. Students will convert one drawing exercise to a landscape painting. Throughout the course students will also learn basic techniques and concepts of creating landscape paintings such as composition, perspective, color mixing, shading, texture techniques, and combining these elements together resulting in a dimensional artwork. 
​
If students are painting with oil paint, they must have previous experience painting in that medium.

Ages 16+
SUPPLIES: Please bring (1) 8x10 or larger canvas. SAA has acrylic paints and brushes available for students.

​Inspired by The Rinpa School

Tuesdays, January 6 - March 3 [8 Weeks]: 1 - 3:30 PM [Ashlynn Frey] (No class January 20)
The style that inspired Van Gogh...let it inspire you! Established in the 17th century, the Rinpa School was one of the major historical schools of Japanese painting with a style focusing on natural subjects, bold colors, flattened perspectives, and backgrounds filled with gold leaf. Create golden artworks of your favorite subjects; the four seasons, animals, botanicals, and more. Illuminate your walls with this unique style while you learn new techniques from art history!
Ages 16+

Introduction to Acrylic & Oil Painting : Pet Potraits

Tuesdays, January 6 - March 3 [8 Weeks]: 6 - 8:30 PM [Ashlynn Frey] (No class January 20)
Students will explore both acrylic and oil painting in this class. With a focus on pet portraits, we will go over proportion, value, controlling tones, and adding textures. The first painting will utilize acrylic paint and the second will be in oil paint if you find you are comfortable with that medium.
Ages 16+

Watercolor Open Studio

Wednesdays, January 7 - February 25 [8 Weeks]: 9 AM - 12 PM [No Instructor]
Watercolor Open Studio is for individuals working with drawing materials or any water-based media. Artists will be responsible for their own projects and materials. This is an opportunity for anyone wishing to pursue their own artistic endeavors while still having creative camaraderie.
Ages 16+

$90 Non- Members. $60 Members

CANCELLATIONS OR REFUNDS OF CLASS
We do not issue credits, or roll forward tuition.

What is the class refund policy?
Class Refunds for 8-week classes and SAAmplers will be issued at 95% of original purchase price if you cancel 1 week in advance or more before class start date.
Cancellations made less than 1 week in advance will not be eligible for a refund. For example: If you cancel your class 48 hours before the start time, your registration is not valid for a refund. We can not issue credits or roll forward tuition.
