These classes are quick samples or tastes of what we have to offer in our various studios. Try something new that provides a fun, care-free introduction to, or development in a certain medium. BYOB or snack to the studio, unless you are working in the glass studio, metals studio, or Edwards Place, in which we will ask that you do not bring alcoholic drinks or snacks.

Miniature Ceramic HousesSaturday, August 29th, 6:30 - 9 PM
Join us for a little bit of fun and make some tiny ceramic houses! This workshop will focus on making at least two miniature houses. After building, we will add surface decoration in class with imprints, textures, and glazes. Each house will be unique! This is a great workshop for both beginners and those practiced in ceramics! Ceramic pieces need to be kiln fired, so please allow 2 weeks after the workshop before pieces will be ready for pick up. Sprayed PaperSaturday, September 12th, 9 AM-4 PM
Make a large, sprayed paper masterpiece in one day! We will be spraying abaca paper pulp on large frames in different layers. You will have your choice of color and composition. This workshop will take place outside of our Condell studio and we will break for lunch. Due to dry times, paper will be available for pick up within 2 business days. Introduction to Soft PastelThursday, September 24, 1 - 4 PM
Students will be shown some specific materials and techniques needed for pastel painting. This workshop is recommended for those wanting to take "Soft Pastel Adventures", but have little or no experience with soft pastel. Tie Covered, Tab Bound BookThursday, October 22, 6 - 9 PM
Give abandoned neck ties a new life! Ties have just enough fabric to make a small tab bound book in one evening. This workshop will cover turning the tie into book cloth, making the book cover, creating paper signatures, and sewing those signatures into the book. "Commander in Chef" Breakfast for DinnerFriday, October 23, 6-8 PM
This cooking SAAmpler takes recipes from our popular Commander in Chef cooking camp to our adult students! In Breakfast for Dinner, try out "fat rascals," a favorite of Teddy Roosevelt and calas tous chauds, a rice donut enjoyed by Zachary Taylor. This SAAmpler includes coffee (Teddy's favorite), milk (Taylor's choice), and water. These are hands-on cooking workshops taught by our Curator (who is not a professional chef, but loves being in the kitchen) and include historical lessons about the foods in the SAAmpler, along with time to enjoy the food and company with other classmates. This cooking SAAmpler takes recipes from our popular Commander in Chef cooking camp to our adult students! In Cozy Cooking, try out Chicago-style chili and Yuengling (Obama's choice), along with comfort food grilled cheese and ...martinis... (FDR's choice). These are hands-on cooking workshops taught by our Curator (who is not a professional chef, but loves being in the kitchen) and include historical lessons about the foods in the SAAmpler, along with time to enjoy the food and company with other classmates.
