Beginner Students

Wheel 1

Mondays, March 23 - May 11 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM or
Tuesdays, March 24 - May 12
 [8 weeks]: 1 - 4 PM [Mary Rhein]
Let's get muddy! Through group and individual instruction, students will learn the basics of throwing on a potters wheel including how to throw cylinders and bowls, finishing techniques, constructing handles and other attachments, and various types of surface decoration. Pots will be thrown the first 6 weeks of class, leaving the last 2 weeks for finishing and glazing.
​Ages 16+
SUPPLIES: 8 Piece Pottery Tool Kit, Also needed are a 1 gallon container to hold supplies/and be a water bucket, an old hand towel, and a full-front apron.

Intro to Handbuilding

Thursdays, March 26 - May 14 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM [Kathy Adams]
​This is not a wheel throwing class. Basic introduction to functional, non functional and ceramic sculpture. Class will explore glazing techniques as well as alternative surface decorations and design. Intermediate student will receive guided instruction on their personal projects. New students will receive one on one instruction to introduce you to the clay process.
​Ages 16+

Throw and Sculpt

Wednesdays, March 25 - May 13 [8 Weeks] : 12 - 3 PM [Anne Logue]
​
Students will be encouraged to explore methods of combining wheel thrown pieces with sculpting. Handbuilding and tile work will also be taught. Basic wheel techniques included.
​Ages 16+

Beginner-mediate

Saturdays, April 4 - May 9 [6 weeks]: 1 - 4 PM [Elizabeth Thai]
This class is for any wheel-thrower who has completed a beginning wheel course and is ready to hone their skills! Students will be instructed in mastering basic forms and refining the finish of their thrown pieces.
Ages 16+

Wednesdays, April 1 - May 13 [6 weeks] [NO class on April 8]: 6 - 9 PM [Danucha Brikshavana]
Through group demonstrations and individual guidance, Wheel 2 students will advance their wheel throwing skills. This class is a great fit for anyone who has taken a variety of beginning classes and is looking for the next step.
​Ages 16+

Coils, Slabs, and Tiles!

Mondays, March 23 - May 11  [8 Weeks] : 1 - 4 PM [Kathy Adams]
​This is not a wheel throwing class. 
Students will learn to use slab techniques to roll out standard and inventive tile shapes, utilize techniques in image transfer, intuitive design, building up textures to create a raised surface, glazing and color that strengthens the image for forms that can serve as functional as well as pure artistic imagery. Hand building instruction is also included in which texture and three dimensional sculptural techniques will be given.
​Ages 18+

Intermediate to Advanced Wheel Throwing

Thursdays, March 26 - May 14 [8 Weeks]: 1 - 4 PM [Scott Day]
Students will explore and develop advanced skills in creating larger pieces like salad bowls, tea pots, lidded vessels, and more. Sculptural work will incorporate wheel thrown and hand building techniques. Glazing techniques will also be emphasized.
Ages 18+
SUPPLIES:  8 Piece Pottery Tool Kit,  Also needed are a 1 gallon container to hold supplies/and be a water bucket, an old hand towel, and a full-front apron. Other items such as a plastic bin for storing wet work, plastic sheet, and throwing bats may be brought as needed.
$240 Non-Members. $210 Members.

Wheel and hand builders take skills acquired from the beginning adult classes and expand their skill sets with instructor input as desired. This is a self driven learning environment with a great sense of community and support towards your individual goals!
Ages 18+

This is a self driven learning environment. If structure is desired, one-on-one teaching with the instructor is available.

CANCELLATIONS OR REFUNDS OF CLASS
We do not issue credits, or roll forward tuition.

What is the class refund policy?
Class Refunds for 8-week classes and SAAmplers will be issued at 95% of original purchase price if you cancel 1 week in advance or more before class start date.
Cancellations made less than 1 week in advance will not be eligible for a refund. For example: If you cancel your class 48 hours before the start time, your registration is not valid for a refund. We can not issue credits or roll forward tuition.
