Beginning Students
Intro to Wheel Throwing
Mondays, January 9 - February 27 (8 weeks): 6 - 9 PM (Maggie Packman) or
Tuesdays, January 10 - February 28 (8 weeks): 1 - 4PM (Maggie Packman) Students will be taught basic techniques on creating a uniform cylinder on the wheel, trimming, handle creation and attachment, and glaze application. SUPPLIES: 8 Piece Pottery Tool Kit. Also needed are a 1 gallon container to hold supplies/and be a water bucket, an old towel, and a full-front apron. $195 Non-Members. $165 Members. Throw and Sculpt
Wednesdays, January 11 - March 1(8 weeks): 12 - 3 PM (Anne Logue)
Students have the options of learning beginning wheel throwing as well as incorporating sculpture into thrown objects or composing stand alone pieces through slab work and 3D design. Beginning to Intermediate Handbuilding
Thursdays, January 12 - March 2 [8 WEEKS] : 6 - 9 PM [Kathy Adams]
This is not a wheel throwing class. Basic introduction to functional, non functional and ceramic sculpture. Class will explore glazing techniques as well as alternative surface decorations and design. Intermediate students will receive guided instruction on their personal projects. New students will receive one on one instruction to introduce you to the clay process. Intermediate Students
Coils, Slabs, and Tiles
Mondays, January 9 - February 27 [8 WEEKS] : 1 - 4 PM [Kathy Adams]
Students will learn to use slab techniques to roll out standard and inventive tile shapes, utilize techniques in image transfer, intuitive design, building up textures to create a raised surface, glazing and color that strengthens the image for forms that can serve as functional as well as pure artistic imagery. Hand building instruction is also included in which texture and three dimensional sculptural techniques will be given. SUPPLIES: 8 Piece Pottery Tool Kit. Intermediate to Advanced Ceramics

Wheel and Handbuilders take skills acquired from the beginners adult class and expand their skill sets with instructor and peer input. Please be ready to share your knowledge with the class! This is a self driven learning environment. If structure is desired, one-on-one teaching with the instructor is available. Intermediate to Advanced Wheel Throwing

This course will help students improve skills in throwing larger balls of clay, tall cylinders for larger pots, necks and bottle openings, lidded jars, tea pots, large baking dishes, and other forms. Lines and Tension and Body, Oh My!Fridays, January 13 - March 3 [8 WEEKS]: 6 - 9 PM [Colleen Halford]
Learn how to fine tune your technique on the wheel in this 8-week intermediate-advance course. Students will learn how to proactively plan a ceramic project, to balance form and function, and to see how tools may aid in their practice. Classes will be more prescriptive and require students to already have the skill set to produce consistent wheel thrown cylinders. Ages 18 + $195 Non-Members. $165 Members.
