Beginning Students

Wheel Throwing 1

Mondays, Jan 8 - Feb 26 (8 weeks): 6 - 9 PM or
Tuesdays, Jan 9 -  Feb 27 (8 weeks): 1  - 4PM (Maggie Packman)

Students will be taught basic techniques on creating uniform cylinders and bowls on the wheel, trimming, handle creation and attachment, and glaze application. Ages 16+
SUPPLIES: 8 Piece Pottery Tool Kit. Also needed are a 1 gallon container to hold supplies/and be a water bucket, an old hand towel, and a full-front apron.
$200 Non-Members. $170 Members.

Wednesdays, Jan 10 -  Feb 28 (8 weeks): 6 - 9PM (Rosie Gale)
If you have taken at least 2 classes of Wheel Throwing 1, this class is for you. We are going to be covering techniques to further develop the basics skills that you have learned in wheel 1.   Ages 16+

Intro to Handbuilding

Thursdays, Jan 11 - Feb 29 [8 WEEKS] : 6 - 9 PM [Kathy Adams]
​This is not a wheel throwing class. Basic introduction to functional, non functional and ceramic sculpture. Class will explore glazing techniques as well as alternative surface decorations and design. Intermediate student will receive guided instruction on their personal projects. New students will receive one on one instruction to introduce you to the clay process. Age: 16+

Throw and Sculpt

Wednesdays, Jan 10 - Feb 28 (8 weeks): 12 - 3PM (Anne Logue)
Students have the options of learning beginning wheel throwing as well as incorporating sculpture into thrown objects or composing stand alone pieces through slab work and 3D design. Age: 16+

Ceramics Independent Study

Fridays, Jan 12 - Mar 1[8 WEEKS]: 6 - 9 PM [Colleen Halford + Elizabeth Thai]
Wheel and hand builders take skills acquired from the beginning adult classes and expand their skill sets with instructor input as desired. This is a self driven learning environment. This session will be team taught by Colleen Halford and Elizabeth Thai. Colleen - 1/12, 1/19, 2/9 and 2/16 Elizabeth - 1/26 , 2/2, 2/23 and 3/1.
Age: 18+

Adult Intermediate to Advanced Wheel Throwing

Thursdays, Jan 11 - Feb 29 [8 WEEKS]: 1 - 4 PM [Scott Day]
This course will help students with intermediate to advanced experience improve skills in throwing more refined forms. Students will focus on a particular form such as using more clay for larger pieces, bottle forms, lidded jars, tea pots and cups, coffee mugs, baking dishes, and other areas of interest. Glazing techniques will also be emphasized. Studio time will include demonstrations, critiques, and one-on-one time with the instructor. Age: 18+
$200 Non-Members. $170 Members.

Coils, Slabs, and Tiles

Mondays, Jan 8 - Feb 26 [8 WEEKS] : 1 - 4 PM [Kathy Adams] 
Students will learn to use slab techniques to roll out standard and inventive tile shapes, utilize techniques in image transfer, intuitive design, building up textures to create a raised surface, glazing and color that strengthens the image for forms that can serve as functional as well as pure artistic imagery. Hand building instruction is also included in which texture and three dimensional sculptural techniques will be given. Ages 18+
