The Springfield Art Association is hosting a community block party where you literally PAINT THE STREETS OF DOWNTOWN SPRINGFIELD!
Participant / groups will purchase a 6' x 6' square of street on which they can paint anything they wish. Participant / groups will receive an event bag containing: paint supplies (including the tempera paint we will be using which is water soluble/washable) and giveaway goodies from sponsors.
Food stands and great music will be available throughout the day.
Visitors will enjoy this unique outdoor gallery on the day of the event, and for months to come, until Nature clears the street to prepare the canvas for next year's event.
Proceeds will go toward the operations and programming at the Springfield Art Association. View our future plans for a community visual arts center at Capital Campaign.
When is the Festival?
June 23, 2018: Painting begins at Noon and continues until 7PM or when the artists finish their work. When the painting is finished, the music continues under the stars and provides the backdrop for dancing and strolling the street to admire the artwork until 10 PM. (Rain Date is June 24, 2018)
Who is Painting?
Everyone: Artists, families, businesses, clubs, friends, and the community at large. Certain community charities of SAA's choosing like the Boys and Girls Club and the Hope Institute will receive a square free of charge.
What are you Painting?
It is completely up to you, a portrait, business logo, a Jackson Pollock, etc.
We do retain the right to censor, at our discretion, content that is not appropriate for the general public.
