Introduction to Landscape DrawingMondays, March 24 - May 12 [8 Weeks]: 10AM - Noon [Ashlynn Frey]
During this course, students will learn the fundamental skills for creating a landscape drawing. We will go over the basic techniques and concepts of drawing such as composition, perspective, shading, texture techniques and how to put all those elements together in order to create a dimensional work of art. SUPPLIES: Please bring a sketchbook of any size 9”x12” or bigger. Pencils 6B to 6H, kneaded eraser, white eraser, and a small cotton cloth. $200 Non-Members. $170 Members. Drawn to Van GoghTuesdays, March 25 - April 15 [4 Weeks]: 6-8:30 PM [Ashlynn Frey]
Join us for a crash course about Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh and his iconic style! Van Gogh believed drawing was “the root of everything” as it allowed him to practice interesting subjects or to capture an on-the- spot impression, which helped him prepare for larger paintings and compositions. Students will learn about still lifes, portraits, and landscapes while creating a few Van Gogh inspired drawings. Drawing: Florals & PlantsWednesdays, March 26 - May 14 [8 Weeks]: 10AM - 12 PM [Ashlynn Frey]
3rd Floor Studio (No Elevator) in the historic Broadwell Building Let’s grab coffee and head to our upstairs library to draw plants and flowers in color! Students will learn and understand the basic techniques and concepts for using colored pencils such as composition, proportions, and how to shade. Students will create a variety of small studied art pieces, then one final piece of their choice. Sketchbook DevelopmentThursdays, March 27 - May 15 [8 Weeks]: 9:30 AM - 12 PM [Kate Atkinson]
Our Fearless Leader, Executive Director, Master Papermaker and Book Artist, Betsy Dollar, will be a guest instructor for our first class where we will make beautiful handmade sketchbooks that we will use for the duration of this course. We will focus on practice not perfection and enjoy the fun of art while doing creative exercises to explore the elements and principles of art.
