Beginner Students

Intro to Stained Glass

8 WEEK CLASS. 3 Hours.  [Morgan Bhenke]
In this course adult students will learn the copper foil process of making Stained Glass windows. Students will learn about the variety of tools, how to cut and grind glass, foiling, and soldering techniques. Supply List: glass, 7/32" Copper Foil - Tools provided for use at the SAA. Student cost for materials will depend on size and complexity of design.
$160 Non-Members. $130 Members

Intro to Lampworking

8 WEEK CLASS. 3 Hours. Pick which time you would like below. [Mario Clarke]
Adults [18 and older] will learn the basic fundamental skills of flameworking. This will include, but is not limited to, gathering, fusing, cutting, flame science, torch operation, and basic color application. Make items like beads, pendants, or sculptures. Once you learn the techniques, you will have the opportunity to explore the medium.
Max Students is 4. SUPPLIES: Are provided by SAA

​Glassblowing I

8 WEEK CLASS. 3 Hours. Pick which night you would like below. [Mario Clarke] 
This is a beginning course in glassblowing that will teach you the fundamentals of the studio, such as tool and equipment education, glassblowing techniques, and finishing products in the cold shop. You will learn basic forms, in a hybrid of Italian/ American style of hot glass. You will create small practice pieces, a straight walled cup, bowl, an avoglio vase, and more! The pieces will be in clear to focus on the form of the objects. This class is a prerequisite for intermediate to advanced classes. Photo shows teachers demos of projects being made from left to right. Max Students is 6.

Intermediate Glassblowing

A continuation of glassblowing, working primarily on texture and color application. New shapes and techniques will be  shown as well as an in-depth dive into cold working. We will also slump a wine bottle as a side project! Photo shows teachers demos of projects being made from left to right.  Max Students is 6.

Geometric Stained Glass Lamp Shade

8 WEEK CLASS. 3 Hours.  [Lee Bhenke]
Class includes: layout of shade using geometric shapes; Contiguous design ideas for shapes; soldering technique, structural considerations; lamp to base ratios. Prerequisite; proficiency with glass cutting, copper foiling and soldering. Supply List: glass, copper foil and a brass vase cap. Tools provided for use at the SAA. Student cost for materials will depend on size and complexity of the shade. Lamp base selection by the student.

Intro to Leaded Stained Glass 

8 WEEK CLASS. 3 Hours.  [Morgan Bhenke]
In this course adult students will learn the techniques of how to make a leaded Stained Glass window. The students will learn about leaded window tools, the process of cutting glass, how to glaze a leaded window, the soldering process, and cementing.
$160 Non-Members. $130 Members
