Intro to Stained Glass
Mondays, January 5 - February 23 [8 weeks]: 1 - 4 PM or
Mondays, January 5 - February 23 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM or Wednesdays, January 7 - February 25 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM [Morgan] In this course students will learn the copper foil process of making Stained Glass windows. Students will learn about the variety of tools, how to cut and grind glass, foiling, and soldering techniques. Students will complete a small suncatcher for practice and a large scale project in a design of their choosing. Class Capacity is 8. Age: 16+ SUPPLIES: Glass and 7/32" Copper Foil and 60 /40 1 roll of Solder - Tools provided for use at the SAA. Torch WorkTuesdays, January 6 - February 24 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM [Jason LaBonte]
Torchwork is a type of glasswork where a torch, or lamp, is primarily used to melt borosilicate glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. Students will make a series miniature glass works starting with clear glass. You will possibly move into hollow forms and the use of color depending on your skill development. Class Capacity is 6. Glassblowing 1Tuesdays, January 6 - February 24 [8 weeks]: 1- 4 PM [Mario Clarke] or
Wednesdays, January 7 - February 25 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM [Jason LaBonte] or Thursdays, January 8 - February 26 [8 weeks]: 1 - 4 PM [Mario Clarke] This is a beginning course in glassblowing that will teach you the fundamentals of the studio: tools and equipment usage, glassblowing techniques in the hot shop, and finishing techniques in the cold shop. You will learn basic forms in a hybrid of Italian/ American hot glass, beginning with clear glass and moving on to color as time and skill allow. Class Capacity is 6. MosaicsWednesdays, January 7 - February 25 [8 weeks]: 1 - 4 PM [Morgan]
In this course, students will complete several mosaic projects. Students will learn how to cut and form glass into their desired shape, adhere glass onto different surfaces, and seal them properly into place. We will work on small and large scale projects through the course. Class Capacity is 8. Ages 16+ SUPPLIES: Supplies and materials provided by SAA for the first few projects. Students will be responsible for materials for specific sizes, designs, or quantities beyond the first three projects. Details to be discussed during class. $215 Non-Members. $185 Members. Intermediate Students
Geometric Stained Glass LampTuesdays, January 6 - March 3 [9 weeks]: 1 - 4 PM [Morgan]
In this course, students will learn how to build a geometric stained glass lamp. You will select a design of your choice or creation. Lamps will be four to eight sides. Over the nine weeks, you will learn pattern making, precise glass cutting, and 3D soldering. Previously completing Introduction to Stained Glass course is highly recommended. Class Capacity is 8. Ages 16+ SUPPLIES: Glass, 7/32" black back copper tape, 60/40 1 roll of solder. Student cost for glass is dependent on the amount needed for your chosen designs. Glassblowing 2Wednesdays, January 7 - February 25 [8 weeks]: 1 - 4 PM [Mario Clarke] or
Thursdays, January 8 - February 26 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM [Jason LaBonte] In this class, we will go through more advanced shapes such as cones, inverted cones, and spheres. We will touch on handles and other bits added to the glass. Focus for the the repeat students will be on color application such as cane, murrine and Graal techniques. Plus much more! Intro to Leaded Stained GlassThursdays, January 8 - March 5 [9 weeks]: 1 - 4 PM or
Thursdays, January 8 - March 5 [9 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM [Morgan] In this course students will learn the techniques of how to make a leaded Stained Glass window. You will learn about leaded window tools, the process of cutting glass and lead came, how to glaze a leaded window, the soldering process, and cementing. Previously completing the Introduction to Stained Glass course is highly recommended. Glass amount needed will depend on the complexity of your design. Class Capacity is 8. Age: 16+ SUPPLIES: Tools will be provided by the SAA. Student cost for glass is dependent on the amount needed for your chosen design. $235 Non-Members. $205 Members. Glassblowing 3Mondays, January 5 - February 23 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM or
Tuesdays, January 6 - February 24 [8 weeks]: 6 - 9 PM [Mario Clarke] In this class, we will go through more advanced shapes and forms as an extension to the Glass 2 class. There will be room for independent study and exploration into glass techniques in form, scale, and finishing with instructor support towards your personal goals. Class Capacity is 6. We do not issue credits, or roll forward tuition.

Class Refunds for 8-week classes and SAAmplers will be issued at 95% of original purchase price if you cancel 1 week in advance or more before class start date.
Cancellations made less than 1 week in advance will not be eligible for a refund. For example: If you cancel your class 48 hours before the start time, your registration is not valid for a refund. We can not issue credits or roll forward tuition.
