Students have the options of learning beginning wheel throwing as well as incorporating sculpture into thrown objects or composing stand alone pieces through slab work and 3D design. Intro to Glass Casting
Wednesdays. September 27 - November 15 (8 WEEKS): 6 - 9 PM [Kaylee Demlow] of Fridays. September 29 - November 17 (8 WEEKS): 9AM - NOON [Kaylee Demlow]
In this course students will learn the basics of mold-making for the glass casting process. Students will learn modeling for mold-making, investment mold-making for blow-molds and open-face castings, pâte de verre technique, and coldworking for finishing pieces. Tools and some materials will be provided by SAA for student use. Student cost for further materials will vary depending on project design. SUPPLIES: Closed-toed shoes, natural fiber clothing, N-95 dust mask, modeling tools (optional), pencils, paper, cheap plastic mixing bowls (optional), cheap silicone kitchen tools (optional), Vaseline, hairspray (the cheaper the better), sharpies, casting glass (dependent on project design) $190 Non-Members. $160 Members.
