The SAA Collective plans to install window murals of artworks by its juried members to vacant downtown storefronts in an effort to enhance the aesthetic of our city's center. The Myers Building is the first to come forward to participate and now is home to the painting pictured by Mary Ellen Strack.
Artist Statement: Colors, light and reflections, are forces in nature, that trigger powerful emotional responses. I try to capture the dynamic energy of wind and water, to and try to recreate how it feels to be there. My work has evolved over 30 years and most recently I have been trying to simplify my work through abstraction. I’ve been experimenting with color, textures, many layers of glazes to capture its beauty. I work with encounters I have had with nature, to display the same uplifting beauty and experiences it presents. Hopefully the viewer can reflect and relate with their own encounters. The Window Mural Project is made possible by funding from the Kovach/Steward Family Fund and Hanson Family Fund at the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln.
