Sue Scaife - Pastel & Painting
Sue Scaife, native of Springfield, Illinois, received a BS degree from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, and a Masters in Administration from Sangamon State University. Although basically a self-taught artist, Sue has studied under nationally recognized pastel artists Albert Handell, Bob Rohm, Elizabeth Mowry, Liz Haywood Sullivan, Michael Chesley Johnson, Colleen Howe, Leslie Rich, Anne Von Ehr and in the studio of Springfield’s renowned pastellist, Sheri Ramsey. Sue has facilitated an open studio class at the Springfield Art Association for over 18 years.
Sue first began working in watercolor forty years ago, but soon set that aside as family and work responsibilities grew. In 1992, she became interested in soft pastels and particularly pastel landscapes. Through study in and outside the studio, Sue continues to develop her technique and style.
