Priscilla Kluge - Watercolor
"It was my goal as a young child to study art. I received my Art Education degree from the University of Illinois. Because of its luminosity and transparency, watercolor has been my medium of choice for over 30 years. Working from still lives and flowers to create complex compositions gave me the opportunity to increase my observation and drawing and painting skills. I occasionally reward myself with paintings of my children. Recently, I have expanded my subjects to include small landscapes centered on the road on which I live as well as larger paintings from places I have visited, which involves using photographs I have taken as reference. In addition, I am intrigued by the transparent spaces we look through: fences, windows, or screens of flowers. This makes paintings more complex but also more easily invites the viewer to become part of the scene."
