Tuesdays January 16 - March 6: 6 - 9 PM [Gene Tanta] This workshop focuses on color and its shape. How does color behave around other colors? Why does it behave as it does? These are the kinds of questions that will focus our attention as we find ourselves putting Joseph Albers' color theories to the test by asking: can violet really kill the brightest red, does black really make gray stand out, how do you make a color move forward or backward, how to you quiet a pallet, or make it scream?
Open to any level of experience or none at all; classes will cover basic color theory through a hands-on approach. We will work in a serial manner of 3 or more surfaces at a time to put ourselves in the way of happy accidents (and to reduce the sense of preciousness artworks can come to have sometimes).
