June 4 - 8: 9 AM - NOON or July 9 - 13: 9 AM - NOON, Ceramics Lab. [Kyle Anderson]
In this camp, campers will create traditional Native American pottery. They will construct pinch and coil pots of various shapes and sizes. And in a rare experience, we will host pit fires! Pit firing is the original method for “baking” clay.  It dates back nearly 30,000 years ago.  This process is done typically in a hole in the ground, or a pit, pots are placed in the pit and burned.  Pit firing is an atmospheric process all of the colors and patterns are derived from the process and what is consumed in the fire. Media: Hand-built Ceramic Sculptures and Pottery.
