Pat Kreppert - Painting
"My adventure into painting did not begin until my two children were grown and I had retired from the position of assistant professor in the Department of Nursing at St. John’s College in Springfield. Since then, painting has added a new and enriched dimension to my life and made me more aware of my surroundings.
I have taken pastel painting classes with Sheri Ramsey over the past several years at the Springfield Art Association, Springfield, Illinois. Working with pastels is one of my greatest pleasures. I appreciate the immediacy and versatility of the medium. The luminous and intense color combinations that can be achieved with their use are very exciting and satisfying to me.
Along with Sheri Ramsey, I have taken classes and workshops in various mediums from nationally known artists including Bob Rohn, Colleen Howe, Lesley Rich, Elizabeth Mowry, Doug Dawson, AnneVon Ehr, Greg Biochini, Hedi Moran, Susan Sarbuck, Gwen Fox, Urania Christy Tarbet, Michael Chesley Johnson and William Schneider.
Also, for the past several years I have taken classes in oil and acrylic painting from Toni Wrightsman, a locally known artist at the Prairie Art Alliance, Springfield, Illinois. I thoroughly enjoy the feel of oils and the way in which they blend on the canvas along with the rich colors that can be created with their use.
My latest challenge in painting has been abstract acrylic painting. After taking acrylic classes with Jeff Garland at the Prairie Art Alliance, I became enthusiastic about this new and exciting method of self-expression.
I belong to the Springfield Art Association and I am a member of the Collective, juried in acrylic, pastel and oil painting. In addition, I have membership in the Illinois Prairie Pastel Society."
