Mary Rhein - Ceramics

Mary Rhein was born and raised in Belleville, Illinois, home of Stag Beer. She graduated in 2021 with her BFA in ceramics and a minor in psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her work has been exhibited nationally at numerous galleries and art centers, such as Red Lodge Clay Center, Companion Gallery, the Clay Center of New Orleans, and the National Juried Student Exhibition at NCECA. In 2022, Mary was an ASPN short-term resident at Red Lodge Clay Center. She is the current Residence Artist and Ceramics Studio Manager & Instructor at the Springfield Art Association. Before coming to SAA, Rhein worked as the Programs Assistant, Studio Tech, and ceramics instructor at the Edwardsville Arts Center in Edwardsville, IL, and taught ceramics and mold-making at Craft Alliance in St. Louis, MO. In her free time, Mary enjoys romping around the woods with her fiance, Jordan, and their two dogs, Ippo and Guts.
