History Summer Camp Instructor

The Springfield Art Association is seeking a camp instructor for Camp Edwards Place in summer 2021 for historically themed camps. This opportunity is for someone great with kids and with a passion for history. These camps take place in an historic home, with one of SAA’s top missions being to preserve the home. The instructor will be expected to teach various historical topics for up to 12 campers per camp [COVID-19 dependent], update the curator on needs for the camp, camp prep before morning and afternoon sessions, and post-camp clean up. This is meant as a full-time, 40 hr. work week seasonal position, but is dependent on which camps run. Dates are June 7 - July 30 and pay rate is $15 for those with a bachelor's degree and $18 for master's degree. Preferred qualifications are a bachelor's degree in a history related field and experience working with a wide age range of children. Please send your resume to: collections@springfieldart.org.

Summer Art Camp Assistants

The Springfield Art Association is seeking camp assistants for the June 1 - August 6. This is a full-time, 40 hr. work week seasonal position. Those that apply must be 16 years and older with an interest in art or the pursuit of an art career. The assistant will be asked to prep and clean up - before and after each camp, maintain tools and materials, secure the safety of the children on breaks and during the session, assist art making during the camp session, and other needs as necessary. Please, send a resume to: education@springfieldart.org.

Art Education Instructor Application

If you are interested in becoming an instructor, employed by the Springfield Art Association, please fill out the form below, and we will get back to you to discuss details and arrange an interview.

New Hire Instructor Application
  • We generally have our hourly pay rate for our instructors beginning at $15 per hour of instruction, plus minimum wage or half your pay rate for an hour of preparation/ clean-up time per class session. If you have a Masters degree, we begin the pay rate at $18 per hour. You are paid on a bi-weekly pay period.
  • We pay our instructors this way, rather than per student, so that we can maintain a consistent pricing structure. As such, we require a certain number of students per class to remain profitable, and we do not expect instructors to assist us in promoting their classes, but always appreciated.
  • If this doesn't work for you, please feel free to start a conversation in the 'Other Notes' section of the instructor application form, and we'll see if we can work something out. But remember, we are a nonprofit community organization dedicated to arts and crafts education (especially for kids in our community... and yes... we're shamelessly trying to tug at your heartstrings a little bit), and we can use all the help we can get!
