Greg Walbert - Painting & Drawing
I draw and paint images that engage me: something that captures me and holds me at attention. I may be attracted to color, light and shadow, composition, subject matter, something personal or unique. How the image is portrayed is as engaging to me as the image itself: painted, illustrated, color, black and white, abstract or real. When I get bored with black and white I scratch the itch to use color. When the accuracy of realism gets a little tedious, I slip into an abstract and spontaneous place. When the fine lines and subtle blends of illustration have had their day in the sun, I scratch another itch, to use broad strokes of color. All sizes. All shapes. All over the place. But that is my place. I’m a part-time dabbler with a hobby that can’t slip into the background for very long. I don’t know what I’ll be producing at this time next year. But, that’s also pretty engaging!
