Ages 10 - 12: Painting Foundations: Acrylic
Thursdays September 28 - November 16: 4 - 6 PM [Isabel Lewis, (formerly Armengol)] Using acrylics is the simplest and most effective way for an absolute beginner to learn how to paint successfully. Acrylics can be used in thin layers like watercolors, or in thicker, more opaque applications of paint, like oil paint. In this course, Isabel takes students on a journey that will unleash their inner artist, providing an introduction to the materials and techniques used in acrylic painting.
The course follows a progressive sequence, covering beginner acrylic painting methods, from sketching a design to signing and protecting their work. It also addresses setup and materials, color mixing, brush-handling and palette-knife techniques. By the end of the course students will have a final still-life painting they can hang with joy, and a solid foundation of painting knowledge, making the transition into more challenging subjects or mediums much easier.
