INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING (100)
This class is perfect for a beginner or someone who wants to brush up on their drawing skills. We will cover the fundamentals to drawing such as: line quality, form, perspective, composition, shading and more. From tools to techniques, this session will lay the groundwork for your future projects. SUPPLY LIST

INSTRUCTOR: ERIN SVENDSEN
In June, the SAA welcomed Erin Svendsen as the new Education Coordinator. She most recently was employed as a set painter for the St. Louis Muny, as well as, a gallery assistant for Bruno David Gallery, and an art teacher for the South Broadway Art Project. Erin received her B.F.A in Painting from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, 2008.

INTERPRETING THE FIGURE (101)
Figure drawing classes are essential to honing one’s skills. Students will have the opportunity to draw the figure in a larger scale creating the illusion of solidity and weight. Observing the live model, students will gain proficiency in all areas of life drawing, with emphasis on gesture, line, and articulation of form. SUPPLY LIST

INSTRUCTOR: WILLIAM CROOK, JR.
From an early interest in R. Crumb and the underground comix movement, Bill Crook has gone on to be a skilled recorder of the landscapes and architecture of Central Illinois with his meticulous style of pen and ink crosshatching. Crook is currently an adjunct instructor of art at both MacMurray College in Jacksonville, and Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois. In 1990 he started Prairie Press in his basement producing fine art prints and note cards, and in addition to other subjects he has completed over twenty-five prints of the State Capitol Building.
SUPPLY LIST: Large newspaper pad, eraser, charcoal and/or other media (acrylics, colored pencils, pastels, etc.)
