Each year, the SAA Gallery of Art hosts four to six exhibitions featuring national, regional and local artists. The art pieces for these exhibitions are chosen in a variety of methods and the exhibits may include or be specific to any medium of fine arts or fine crafts.
The exhibitions range from the traditional to the contemporary and also draw from the SAA permanent collection. The gallery is free and open to the public during business and library hours. Exhibitions such as, "Nellie Knopf: A Life in Full Color" and "The Modern Landscape and Bearing Witness: The Art of Preston Jackson" represent just some of our previous installations. Artwork by SAA students (ages 6 to 90) and faculty members are also exhibited throughout the year.
The SAA frequently collaborates on exhibits with local organizations such as the Liturgical Arts Festival of Springfield and the Illinois Chapter of the American Association of Architects. Our walls have also been graced with the artwork of personalities such as Springfield Mayor Tim Davlin, Representative Raymond Poe and Sangamon County Sheriff Neil Williamson!
